The Zappin Sony DSX-S300BT

The DSX-S300BTX Sony has been with us for a fortnight and it’s time for a full review of the product. The first thing to talk to this unit is clearly the new technology that Sony has developed TuneTray. Build quality is excellent and the tray feels very solid when you change the media device. You can use the iPhone unit with a 4 and found the tray to be the perfect size for the unit, even with the official case for iPhone equipped. The USB connection is very simple and flexible, making the whole process of engaging any device take a few seconds.

The unit controls are very intuitive and within minutes you can find your way around the menu and had a basic understanding of how most of the features worked. Zappin features allow you to hear only the choir, accelerating the process of selecting songs. There is also a feature built SenseMe which allows you to categorize their music in the mood to help select the perfect soundtrack for the day you have. To do this you need to install a program on your PC and configure it, if you are using an MP3 player then it might be a little more interesting, however with iPod playlists kind of negate the need SenseMe .

The feature that sets this apart from other models is the Bluetooth connectivity. As blue tooth is there is little you can do to outperform other devices however, the menus are well designed and the button to make a single voice is an excellent touch. As for the sound quality was good, not an option to install an additional microphone however, will never be as good as a dedicated solution as a device to report, but as far as stereo bluetooth to go is one of the best they have used.

As a summary of Sony DSX-S300BTX is a fantastic product. There are features there that are great additions such as TuneTray. There are ways that Sony could improve the device with a screen better and maybe even an external microphone as part of the package. If you are looking for a feature packed unit that is solidly built, then it will be difficult to find a better car stereo for the price of the Sony DSX-S300BTX.
